First 'real' photography workshop today... we basically went over the very basics of SLR's for people who have never used them before. To be honest it was good to go over it again and try out a Canon 450D instead of my trusty Nikon D3000, and I won't be transferring over any time soon!
Had a fairly relaxing day of workshops really, got to go out and take photos around campus with Amy (will post a couple when we get them off the memory cards from uni) and was given the task of basically people watching in Script & Realisation which was fairly amusing.
I just realised I should kinda introduce myself a little bit more, with this being a new blog and stuff.
Hi.
I'm Rebeca Doig, I'm 19 years old and at the moment I go to Lincoln University to do Media Production.
HOWEVER, in September this will (hopefully) change and I will be a Commercial Photography student at Grimsby Institute alongside my lover.
I very much enjoy portraiture as a genre of photography, although once I get the money would really like to try out a bit of macro, abstract stuff. I originally wanted to be an underwater photographer/videographer, but due to medical reasons I can't scuba dive so that dream was pushed aside :(
Capturing the special moments and memories in someones life is a particular element of photography that really interests me, and I would really like to get into Wedding/event photography and possibly family stuff as a main job direction, but still work with models to try and create some really imaginative stuff!
You can see more of my work on flickr.com/bekidoig and I try to keep that as up to date as possible :)
Oh yeah. I'm hopefully buying a 50mm f1.8 D lens tomorrow! I've wanted it so much for ages and I got a bursary from uni so decided to treat myself, so will hopefully see the results from the photoshoot I'm doing later in the afternoon.
Til later :)
Beki xx
